I suppose you could say I was lucky in that I have been "head-hunted" several times in the past, by companies looking for the the "right person" for a particular position in senior management!
Recently, a couple of informal approacehs have been made to see whether I may be "available" for senior management positions with other companies, and until now I have always turned down these approaches. However, what happens when someone makes that "offer you just can't refuse"?
As much as I enjoy running Glastonbury Radio, I guess it all comes down to money really, and like anyone else, a large financial offer is always going to make me think!
There are now companies out there employed solely to "head-hunt" good senior managers/Directors and these agencies tend to target people like myself who have a good track record in setting up new businesses, and turning old stale businesses around!
Don't get me wrong, I have no immediate plans to hand over the reigns of Glastonbury Radio to anyone else, but it is interesting to see the enquiries coming through - it proves I must be doing something right here, and must be worth something to someone somewhere lol!
Now don't get me wrong, it's not ALL about money, but one needs money to survive and have a comfortable lifestyle, pay all the bills and have holidays and the offer of a large sum of money would tempt most people despite what their financial ethic may be! In Glastonbury they moan about anyone who "earns a decent living" but those same people could be so easily bought, because I believe everyone's "ethic" has a sale price lol!
