Sea Fishing Journal :)

I had spent the past week or so purusing various fishing forums seeing what were the best fishing marks on the Bristol Channel and where big fish were being caught, as I fancied a change from my usual haunt in Dorset!

All the best reports were pointing to a small piece of beach near Minehead called Bossington where a mixture of Conger, Ray, Bull Huss and even a 6lb cod had been caught in recent days.

Well, I decided to go to Bossington and give it a try on Sunday.....

First-off I had to visit a bait shop in Minehead to pick up some Peeler Crab, Mackerel, Rag worm, frozen squid and sand eels (a good variety of bait for all occasions lol)

Bossington beach is only accessible via a small rutted track which nearly took the exhaust off the bottom of the car and was remote to say the least! God help us if we'd have met a car coming the other way lol!

The wind was very strong, so setting up was difficult, with absolutely no chance of erecting the beach tent for some shelter, and after three casts and three losses of tackle, I threw my rod to the ground, had an artistic tantrum, packed up and left :)

So we headed a few miles up the road to Watchet Harbour, somewhere I had tried before. The result? - I caught one small dogfish and went home somewhat dejected, wishing I had stuck with my original plan to fish Seatown beach in Dorset lol

I also managed to pick up what appeared to be a bit of sunstroke :)

Not one of my more relaxed fishing trips!
