Weekend Roundup:
My parents came up Friday, so I took off from work early and we went looking at kitchen countertops because my mother has decided that it is Time For Renovation at the house. She found this place where you can pick out a slab of marble/rock - the stuff is ART. After too much time in the car between the showroom and the warehouse, she picked a beautiful piece that has a quartz vein running through it - it's going to be gorgeous. We then went to the Expo Center and she got ideas for the half-bath that is also part of the Renovation. It's being renovated mainly because my father fell and broke the pedestal sink by taking a chunk of the bowl out with his head. Thank goodness my dad was okay.
We slept in a little bit on Saturday and, after I cooked us breakfast, my mom and I went to IKEA while my dad hung a hook on my porch and then took a long nap. My mother very quickly realized that she really needed an entire day for IKEA and was overwhelmed by the Swedish values.
My parents left that afternoon, giving me just enough time to shower and change for the Girl's Night Out. I drove up to the house of a college buddy from UGA, Cana, and met 8 of her friends that I would spend many, many hours with. We limo-ed to Loca Luna where we had fabulous food and found out who the 2 wet blankets would be for the evening (and they converted 1 more before the night was over). We went to Halo, where nothing was going on yet - but the bouncer let us all in with no cover charge. We decided to try to go to the opening of a new club, Opera, but the cover was $20 a person, so we went across the street to Sutra. There was no cover there BUT they were filming some new reality show (Sociallite?) and following some guy around with cameras (who was getting it on with some blonde ho for some of the evening - I think, because of the cameras). We had fun there drinking and dancing until one of the girls got a text message from someone in Opera that said she could get us all in for free. It helps to know people - and to hang out with attractive women :) So, we went to Opera and it was PACKED. Very cool club - not $20 cool, but extremely cool for free. We had a lot of fun until almost 2:00. We limo-ed back to Cana's and I decided to drive home. I didn't have a lot to drink and I had cut myself off early, so I wanted to get back to my own bed. The only bad part of the evening was the end, when I found that one of my grandmother's broaches that I wear often, was broken. I had left my jacket in the limo and it got trampled at some point. I'm going to take it somewhere and maybe it can be repaired.
Sunday was spent sleeping, doing some work from home, spending
overloved's short break time with her, and more sleeping.
Today has DRAGGED on. I spent almost 3 hours at Carmax getting an oil change and fixing a safety recall problem. My boss won't be in for a couple of hours, though, so I have time to catch myself up a little bit.
Later.
