About F-ing time!

When I was fourteen, I watched a documentary called "Paradise Lost: The Child Murders in Robin Hood Hills." The film outlined the gruesome deaths of three boys in West Memphis, Arkansas, and the subsequent trial of the suspects. I remember watching it and thinking (even at that age), "What a witch hunt!" Three teenagers convicted on ZERO evidence, singled out because they dressed in black and listened to heavy metal. Ridiculous.

Over the years, the news got worse. Every single thing I heard about the case turned my stomach. I had never seen a more blatant or deliberate miscarriage of justice. What's even worse was that it was allowed to happen! Police cover ups and exonerating evidence that was as plain as the nose on your face! Still nothing.

I hope that after 14 years of this travesty, people interested in justice finally have some good news. Today it was released that after 14 YEARS (!!!), the defense finally got their DNA testing. It conclusively proved that the defendants' DNA was nowhere to be found at the crime scene. What WAS found, however, was the DNA of one of the original suspects, a stepfather of one of the boys.

This is a long way from total exoneration, but it's a start, I hope to God. Nothing will ever make up for those boys spending almost half their lives in jail (one on death row), but I really have vengeance in my heart. I hope they crucify the judge, prosecutor, and the West Memphis PD for DELIBERATELY compounding the crime of the murder of those boys by stealing the lives of three more.

Tonight, we go to Mr. Bill's to celebrate and sing karaoke songs about freedom.

I again encourage everyone to go to WM3.org and read more about this case. If possible, buy a t-shirt to contribute to the defense fund. And stay alert, because this kind of thing could happen to any of us in this country. There's nothing just about the American justice system.
