I WENT AND SAW IRON MAN TODAY AND IT WAS AWESOME.
That was exactly the sort of superhero movie I love. Snarky one-liners! Explosions! Cool gadgets! More explosions! Killing bad guys! Saving good guys! <3333
Robert Downey Jr totally OWNED Tony Stark. That was the exact sort of jackass I love to watch in movies.
Like, this movie made me grin from the OPENING SEQUENCE. AC/DC and the FUNVEE and the stiff silence getting broken by the AWESOME and just. ♥
I totally had an great time watching this. It was such a FUN movie. I loved how Tony would be hanging in his garage working on his superhero suit and then screw it up and fret about his cars and really, this movie just WORKED for me. It didn't get overly bogged down, it didn't try to work in a thousand issues of continuity. It was really a perfect tone.
Pepper Potts was awesome! THE SNARKY PLAQUE ABOUT PROOF TONY HAD A HEART! THE WAY SHE TOTALLY DIDN'T KISS HIM IN THE END BECAUSE HE WAS A JACKASS! GWEN TOTALLY ROCKED THAT ROLE.
I TOTALLY WANT TO BE TONY STARK NOW, IS THAT BAD? OMG. THE SUICIDAL TENDENCIES!!!!!! AND AC/DC AND JOKING ABOUT MYSPACE AND GANG SIGNS AND THEN THEY PLAYED BLACK SABBATH AT THE END AFTER HE WAS A TOTALLY AWESOME JACKASS AND IGNORED SHIELD'S ADVICE. <3333
HIS ADORABLE 'I'M NOT A SUPERHERO!" AND THE REPORTER'S ALL, "UM, I DIDN'T ASK IF YOU WERE."
HAHAHA. I EVEN LIKED THE STUPID LITTLE ROBOT THING HE KEPT SCOLDING! THE BIT WITH THE FIRE EXTINGUISHER TOTALLY HAD ME CRACKING UP, NOT GONNA LIE.
And the bit after the credits! OMG, that's AWESOME. (Yes, 'awesome' is my word of the day.)
...I just realized why I loved Tony Stark so much. HE'S BRUCE WAYNE IF BRUCE WAYNE WERE ACTUALLY BRUCE WAYNE AND NOT JUST THE FRONT BATMAN PUTS UP TO AVERT SUSPICION.
Speaking of Bruce Wayne! (How smooth a transition was THAT?)
OMG THE DARK KNIGHT TRAILER.
OMG I CANNOT WAIT. I was bouncing in my seat with squee, no joke. THE JOKER. HARVEY DENT. ALFRED. AND OF COURSE CHRISTIAN BALE. One night a typo has lead me to refering to everything Christian Bale as "adorbale," and yeah, that summarizes my immediate reaction to him ALWAYS.
And the JOKER. Omg, the way he faux-fixes his hair when strolling up to Rachel. That is PERFECT.
AND HARVEY DENT SAYING, "YOU EITHER DIE A HERO, OR YOU LIVE LONG ENOUGH TO SEE YOURSELF BECOMING THE VILLAIN."
That one line, oh man, I can't even express how much glee it gave me. That right there is everything I love about Gotham and vigilantes and just superheroes in general. The ever-present possibility of going to far.
And I just love the Batman Begins take on the Batman mythos, the darkness and the grittiness and the simplicity. I really really cannot wait for this movie.
...I want to see an Iron Man/Batman Begins movieverse crossover now.
