NASA lets go of Spirit [Bad Astronomy]

So as one of my LJ friends already pointed out, the Mars Rover Pheonix's mission ended in the last few days. Apparently it wandered a little too close to the caps and it is now entering the winter season, so it can't recharge its batteries.
