Frugal Muse Northside is closing
I was very sad (and surprised) to see when I pulled into the Northside Frugal Muse that there was a big "Store Closing" banner across the front. (The sandwich board signs saying "book store closing" on the edge of the parking lot were kinda a give away, but yeah...)
So, they just announced it this Sunday, everything (except special orders) is 40%. The YA, comics and art are kinda picked over already... but I still managed to walk off with a pile o' stuff for $15.00.
I talked to one of the owner-ladies, and she said that they're closing that location and selling their Illinois store, but the West Side one isn't going anywhere.
They have a lease through the end of November, so they'll probably be there till then. They'll be selling all the shelves and fixtures, and while nothing in that regard is priced, she said they are taking offers. (Though employees have first dibs.)
Still kinda shell shocked, since Frugal Muse has been a staple in my life since I moved to Madison. Best prices for buy-back, the owners remember you and sometimes undercharge you or give you a loyalty discount, and they're always laid back.
