I went to a cello recital last night, and it was absolutely divine. I mean that in its literal sense, I felt reconnected somehow to my soul'd purpose, remembering why I've clung so stubbornly to the long-term plan of going through years of grad school in order to be a college music professor. Music is truly one of my greatest loves in my life, worth devoting myself to, and I can't believe that I ever forgot that, or even just pushed it to the back of my mind. When we find something that we can feel so passionately about, and can find a way to make that our life's work, nothing should prevent us from attaining that. It was exactly the encouraging sign-post I needed at this time in my life, letting me know I'm on the right track after all.
By the way, if anyone likes classical music and would like to hear some excellent (and free) performances here locally, I will probably be attending a recital or concert at the Performing Arts Center once or twice a week. They are usually on weeknights at 8pm, and I would love company. I'm required to go to several of them just because all music majors are, but it's a lovely requirement to fulfill.
