George wasn't exactly sure what he'd been expecting Kyle's world to be like. For one, he hadn't expected to promise John Connor - again - not to tell his father about his future. For another, he hadn't expected to talk to said Leader of the Resistance at all, let alone to be bundled off through the tunnels for a medical exam while great big bombs

After a while, but thankfully before George joined in, Kyle finished his meeting with John and made his way down the darkened corridors to look for George. "Don't make enemies on the first day," he said when he noticed George checking out the dice game.

"I know how not t'make enemies," he commented, glancing over at Kyle. "Th'man finished wit' ye for now?"

"Yeah, he just wanted a report." And then some, but it wasn't important to mention. "They'll pay attention to you after Derek introduces you. Want to walk?"

"Be making enough enemies then, 'm thinkin'," George said lightly. Dice might be useful then. He could as easily lose as win. He stood up at Kyle's question. "Aye. Odd not t'know th'lay of th'land."

"Everything go okay with Connor?"

"Think he wanted t'see if I'd get all you killed," he lied - or, well, maybe it wasn't. "Think I passed?"

"In this unit, either you'll learn fast not to get anyone killed or you won't last long," Kyle said, his tone light for the first time since they'd arrived. "You'll do okay. I would've suggested he put you on kitchen duty if you couldn't keep up." Well, what passed as a kitchen here anyway.

"Ye wouldn' do such a thing!" he protested, feigning horror. "And ye bein' me friend." George winked at Kyle.

"It's because I'm your friend that I would have gone with kitchen duty and not something much, much worse." Such as things that were a part of daily life when you didn't have plumbing.

George snorted. "Next time ye come wit' me t'Tortall, we're goin' on a trek through th'sewers."

"I grew up in sewers. You'll have to do worse than that."

"Didn' grow up in 500 year old sewers that are still bein' used."

Kyle grimaced at the thought. "You've got me there. So he told you we're going back?"

George nodded. "Said it might be a while though. Something about windows?"

[weetinyreese]

"It uses so much power that Skynet will notice. We have to wait for them to be out of the area or down for maintenance or, I don't know. Tech stuff. We'll be here a while." He didn't mention that time ran differently in Fandom. George already knew that from the last time Kyle had left when less than a week passed in Fandom but 8 months had passed for Kyle. "Most people don't know about Fandom. They think I get sent to some settlement far enough away that they don't know it."

He considered that as they continued through the tunnels. "Lose the cant then?" he asked, usual lilt to his words consciously gone. "Haven't talked t'none but Connor an' that pretty Kate yet."

Derek didn't count obviously.
