The devoted Love of a Puppy- Priceless
It's been quite a week. A few days ago I went into the bedroom and sat on the bed and looked down at chewed and freyed electric blanket cord. Our new little boy chewed right through it, severed it completely. Amazing he didn't shock his little self.
The first day we got him, he chew through my computer cooling pad wire. And I got a new one the next day. We tried to think of anything that we could think of that he could get into but we are new to the puppy thing.
Thursday evening, I let Charlie and Tommy outside and of course since Hubby was at rehearsal, Toby got to go out too but stupid me, I didn't put him on a leash. He kept harassing the cats and going after them. I kept trying to control him and things were going from bad to worse. Finally I decided to just forget the whole thing and bring the cats inside. I got Tommy in ok but Charlie was over by the trees. I went over to get him and Toby started harassing him. He got very upset and I called Toby off and then went to pick Charlie up. Just as I picked him up, Toby pounced again and Charlie being very upset bit and bit. He got my left thumb and my right wrist. I dropped him and he ran to the door. I opened it and let him in. Toby and I followed. The pain was so intense. I stumbled to the kitchen and scrubbed the areas with soap and water even though touching it was torture. By the time I was done, I was seeing stars in front of my eyes, so lay down on the floor before I passed out. That helped butthen I got very nauseated for about 10 minutes.
The night was uncomfortable although Ibuprofen kept me fairly comfortable. When I got to work, my doctor was in her office. *it's a nice perk working in a clinic and especially working in a clinic where my doctor is*. I went in and apologized for bothering her but had her look at the area. The were very tender and getting redder. She immediately put me on antibiotics.
.
Oh and before I went to work yesterday morning, I was on the computer and the internet went out which is not completely unusual but I heard Hubby saying "NO" upstairs so went up. He had caught Toby chewing on the internet satellite cable. He didn't chew through it and the net came back. But it was too close. So last night spend about an hour trying to secure the cable to the wall and put a barrier in front of it.
A lot of pain last night but this morning the redness is better and the pain is better. This afternoon I had a long nap. I NEVER nap
Got up and came downstairs just in time to see Toby get tangled up in cords under the side table. My laptop was slowly sliding off the table and I could picture it getting dragged across the floor by a panicked puppy. But I saved it, the only thing was that he destroyed another cooling pad. Sigh.
He truly IS a good puppy, we just need to puppy proof our house. We are the fault not him. He's just being a puppy. We are just being stupid humans. He's a smart dog. He already sits without me pushing on his butt. He knows "Go potty" and "No". "Come" happens about 50% of the time. LOL...we need to work on that.
