So it seems that Livejournal is making a comeback. I just hope it doesn't go sophomore year all over again! haha
So I'm super bored and have a ton of things I should be doing/should have done today, but didn't/am not doing, so what better than writing an entry in good ol' livejournal?
So- Penn State Thon was this weekend- (in case anyone missed my entry last year) Its a 46 hour dance marathon to raise money for kids with cancer in the four diamonds fund (it covers every possible expense you could imagine for the family, from chemotherapy to music therapy to gas vouchers and car repairs for the car ride to and from Hershey Medical Center- so far no family has been turned down). Its really an incredible cause- this year we beat last years $5.2 million with $6.6 million (totally crushes Rutgers' $202,000- take that, Kurt!)I wish I was more involved with it, maybe next year I'll do more.
I went to an information session about studying abroad for me next spring- I'm pretty positive I'll be going to Athens, Greece for a semester. It seems amazing- a completely different culture, which is what I wanted- no studying in Ireland, England, or Australia, I don't want to study someplace thats so similar to America. The view from the apartments where I'd be staying overlooks the Parthenon- in fact, the Acropolis is only a 10 minute walk from where I'd be living! Every two weeks we go on overnight trips around Greece to see ruins of Mycenae/Sparta, Delphi, Crete/Minoan ruins, and ancient burial cites- I can't wait! Not to mention I'll have plenty of time to travel the rest of Europe or even Egypt! And I really hit it off with the professor who'd be taking the group, so I'm pretty much in!
As for the first half of next year, it's looking pretty bright! I'll be living with four of my best friends, Mal, who's my Penn State version of Danielle, Brittney, who's one of my closest friends, Little Brittney (B-Money), who's just a lot of fun, and Kelly (my good roommate from this year). Our apartment is a LOT bigger than this years with a huuuge counter that word on the street is could be made into a slip'n slide. We all share the same friends too, so it will just be a fun place to live.
Speaking of friends, I finally feel like I have a set group up here- I mean I always had people up here, but it was just some people from around the halls who I'd get lunch or dinner with, or go to parties with (with only a few exceptions of people I'd actually call friends) but now I really have a 'group', like 20 people where we know theres always something to do with, and if not we make something to do and always end up having a great time. I really feel like this place is a second home, and I love that so much.
Two more weeks until the vacation of a lifetime! Danielle, I'm stoked!!
Three more weeks until I'm home for about three days, I can't wait to see you guys! I miss you all SOOOOOOOOO much, my 'group' up here could never compare to any of you :)
Four more weeks until I come home for Easter (and my parents go to Paris), who's up for a little get-together? (And I DO mean LITTLE)
That's about it...
if anyone read all that- WOW, what a boring 10 minutes you just had, sorry!!
