Gazette 10/10

Trying to keep up the posting thing.

There's this girl I went to training with who has quit already.  One month in and she can't handle it, I guess.  She is claiming a lack of healthy diet for her non-dairy ways.  Which kind of pisses me off.  Because in my search for jobs in Japan I have been very specifically turned down at least twice for being a vegetarian and it's people like her, who quit after one month with that excuse, that make companies not want to hire us.  And I'll be honest I have at times struggled with proper nutrition while here.  When I first got here and couldn't read or ask about what was in food?  Life was majorly difficult.  And even now, I have weeks when I start getting lazy and end up sick because I ate something I shouldn't or didn't eat enough of something I should (if I don't get enough protein I start getting MAJORLY depressed, stop showering and start contemplating how sharp my razor blade is).  I try really hard to never make a big deal out of my special needs diet and so a lot of people I hang out with don't realize how much of a struggle it actually is to be a vegetarian in Japan.  It's difficult, make no mistake. But I'm still here.  Anyway, I just really wanted to say it annoyed me a lot when I saw on her facebook that she was quitting and returning to America for 'dietary' reasons.  >.<

What else in the life of me?
Well....
How about a Gazette concert in the middle of the week?

Here's my morning after musings:

It still seems strange to me that this is only the 2nd time I've seen the Gazette.  After all, they were the band that introduced me to visual kei and Jrock in general.  Theyr'e also the only band in which I still get super fan girly about.  Probably, in part, because I've seen them so few times.  They're still music making gods in a far away place rather than simple humans.  For example, I really like Deathgaze (as you know, I'm sure).  If I'm listening to music there's a 75% chance that it's Deathgaze.  If I'm going to a concert, there's a 1/3 chance Deathgaze is involved.  I bought a VK magazine?  Deathgaze is in it.  ...  But I could never read a fanfiction about DG; it'd be like reading porn about my best friend.  creepy.
Anyway, back to the Music Making Gods...
The Gazette, on the other hand, aren't quite real in my mind, so I could (and do) read stories about them sexing like bunnies and it doesn't bother me at all.
I had previously arranged to buy a ticket from a girl on tumblr who had an extra from the overseas lottery thing that Gazette does.  But this fell through and I ended up having to buy a ticket at the door.  This means nosebleed seats, proving that my luck with tickets is pretty much eternally set at zero.  As in zero luck.  but i ended up next to two girls who were absolutely having the time of their lives and they kind of just pulled me into their group and for a couple hours it was just the Gazette vs. us.  And yes, I do sometimes think of these lives as a kind of endurance test.  As Ruki shouts at us "Are you having a good time?  Bang your heads Mother Fuckers!  Die Die Die!!!!" you kind of have to do what he says, just to prove you can.

Oh, you're going to loop Kantou for 10 minutes?  No problem, I can handle it.  Go ahead, try me.

I'm really impressed by the people who write live reports and can actually remember the events in a somewhat chronological order.  Even in real life I have a fairly loose since of time and often have to ask people what day or month it is (or sometimes I don't ask and am just wrong...often, in fact), so it's no surprise to me that I can't easily recall a concert in that way.  This and that happened, but did this happen first?  or did that?  NoClue~
Things that I thought about:

Lighting.  I usually go to pretty low rent shows I guess.  The lighting is done by the in-house lighting dude and usually very simple since he doesn't know the songs very well and can only do the bare minimum.  The videos behind the Gazette are always so interesting.  and I wonder where they get the videos from.  Do they pay someone copyright?  Do they make them?  Do they steal them?  Are they in that mysterious real of "public/common use"?  During Dripping Insanity (I could be wrong about what song) they played images of George Bush along with other, mostly, Japanese politicians that I vaguely recognize but can't tell you the name.  This amuses me.

Clothing.  Uruah's jacket is very sparkly.  I could add more, but really, these guys are picture perfect and you've seen pictures.

Music. randomly, it's kind of strange how they actually use the interlude music from the album as interlude music in the concert.  I've never noticed this at any other live I've gone to?

Day after and my neck and shoulders are crazy sore, but I really, really enjoyed it and want to go again.  There's a live in Nara tomorrow and one in Kobe on Tuesday, but I'm not sure I can manage to go again since I don't have tickets.  What are the chances they'll still have tickets at the door???  And what if they don't after I've traveled all that way?  How disappointing and unnecessarily expensive would that be!?

concerts, concert going, food, gazette, the gazette
