Fevers, fallout, and fandom

Somehow, I am more tired after getting a solid 7 1/2 hours of sleep this morning than I was getting 5 1/2 interrupted hours of sleep yesterday. How does that work? Of course, yesterday I was motivated by having a daughter who was feverish and restless, so I think the adrenalin kicked me in to SuperDad mode. I did end up grabbing a nap in the afternoon, though. Fortunately, she slept through the night, and ibuprofen takes the fever down, so all is good.

In other news, I finished The Pitt last night in Fallout 3. The toys are somewhat nice (hello, Man Opener and Metal Blaster), but the plot didn't satisfy me a lot, thanks to the moral gray area of kidnapping a child for the greater good. It reminds me of Tenpenny Tower; there's no way to do that quest that leaves you feeling really "good" in the end. Now, had I played the completely morally bankrupt path, it'd be a different story. I still have more to do - there are 35 Steel Ingots left to find - but I can go back and do that at my leisure. I will say that I'm less than impressed with the Infiltrator class of rifles. Silenced and scoped, sure, but less accurate than a drunken stormtrooper.

As the_z reported, we've been watching Soul Eater, Shinobuden, and Gurren Lagann lately. It feels good to watch anime again, especially titles that, while not necessarily being brand new, are new to us. I don't know if I love any of the new titles, but they've all been enjoyable watching. Shinobuden is just starting to show the slimmest wisp of a plot hidden underneath the cracktastic humor as of episode 6, and Gurren Lagann just stunned me with episode 8 in typical Gainax fashion (i.e., a completely over-the-top mecha series suddenly has a very serious, tragic moment).

Also, after episode 6, I have to say that Kamina is a man after my own heart. :P
