In the recent wake of Studio 60, I've been thinking a lot about Aaron Sorkin's writing and the similarities and differences between his shows. (By the way, Studio 60 = excellent, although not quite of the same calibre of The West Wing /biased) So this got me thinking about the quality of the writing on The West Wing itself. Oh, I loved Ainsley. She reminds me a little of my RL best friend; they're both Republican and have long blonde hair. Although my best friend doesn't have a Southern accent. Heh. I have to admit to being more than a little disgruntled when CSI: Miami took Emily Procter away. *sticks tongue out at them*

The funny thing is, Amy REALLY bothered me, but Joey Lucas didn't. They were both prospective love interests of Josh's, and even by the time I watched the first season I had already made up my mind that Josh belonged with Donna and no one else. I guess this is because Joey has a lot of other likable qualities, and she continued to be fun even after Josh stopped crushing on her. For a very, very, very brief time, I liked Amy (gaspshockhorrors), but she got annoying real fast. That she was a feminist was initially okay - I'm a feminist - but the way she portrayed her feminism irritated me greatly. The character was annoying and selfish, and I just couldn't warm up to her after trying for a couple episodes. Not to mention Josh actually made out with her, which is a lot more than he ever did with Joey.

Isn't it awesome that JKR shares our tastes in television? She mentioned her West Wing love when Melissa of Leaky and Emerson of MuggleNet interviewed her post-HBP. Both of their reports include a bit about chatting with Jo about Sorkin and West Wing - Melissa's is a bit wordier.
