"Hey," Lyle knocked on the door to the infirmary where a little birdie had told him the cute new girl was working at. Ever since they had met, he had decided that he needed to get to know this girl as soon as possible. Anew looked up from filling out a sheet of paper and smiled slightly when she saw him.

"Lyle. What brings you here? You're not feeling sick are you?"

He grinned and sat backwards on the chair next to her, resting his arms on the top of the chair. "I'm not ill, no, just feeling like I might need a check-up though. This space thing is a little new to me. What are you doing?" He leaned to read over her shoulder.

"Just taking some inventory on medical supplies we might need..." She trailed off as they both suddenly noticed how close their faces were. Lyle pulled back and shot her an easy grin, completely aware that she was slightly red.

"You got time for that check-up then? I mean it would be a tragedy of a Gundam Meister came down with the flu."

"Just a moment and I'll check your records," she stood up and disappeared into a back room. Lyle leaned back and grinned, he had noticed that glance she shot back at him. This was going better than he had expected. Anew returned holding a different sheet of paper and a thoughtful look on her face. "Everything seems to be in order, but you could use an extra shot to keep your bones strong in space."

All the color drained from Lyle's face. "Shot? R-really? That seems a little excessive." He stood up and stepped away from the chair. Lyle Dylandy and needles did not mix, much like mixing various alcohols. He figured getting a lot of them when he was a sick little kid had caused the phobia, it was a good excuse right?

"It would be better in the end if you had it, I don't think it would be wise to possibly inhibit your piloting skills. Sit down on the bench over there," she indicated one behind him. And in the process of trying to slowly sidle backwards, Lyle tripped over the leg of a chair and stumbled backwards onto that very bench. He was starting to vaguely wonder if he was cursed.

"Now hold still, this will only take a second," Anew advanced on him with the syringe.

"Can't I just drink more milk instead?" Lyle offered weakly. This was a blatant lie, he hated milk.

Anew shook her head, smiling bemusedly at him. She clearly thought he was playing around. "You know that's clearly not the same thing, Lyle. Now sit still so we can finish this and maybe...go for a walk." She began to clean his arm in preparation.

Fate was a satanic bitch, Lyle concluded as he tried to wrack his brains for a way to get out of the shot and still have a chance at scoring with Anew. "There's mercury in shots, you know, I'm not really sure that's safe."

Putting her hands on her hips, Anew gave him a look that was between angry and amused. "Lyle Dylandy, stop being such a baby!"

"I'm no-"

Anew stabbed his arm with the needle.

Lyle passed out.
