A list with my ten most scrobbled tracks during the last six months of 2008.
1) Maxïmo Park - By The Monument
Well, it’s just a very catchy song and so far my favorite one by Maxïmo Park.
Here’s a live version of the song:

2) Maxïmo Park - Books From Boxes
A beautiful song with a melancholic feel to it. At one point, a few weeks ago, I felt quite awful when I looked at old photographs and listened to the song on repeat.

3) MGMT - Kids
At first, the only song I liked by MGMT was “Time To Pretend”. But when I listened to “Kids” again, after I only listened to it once before, I started to like that song as well. In fact, I even like it more than “Time To Pretend” now, or at least it’s on the same level. It’s just as psychedelic and electronic. Actually, I wanted to embed a live version of the song here, but I noticed that they don’t really sound … good live. So I’m gonna stick with this unofficial video for “Kids”:

4) Rick Astley - Never Gonna Give You Up
Well … Rickrolling made it popular again. If you listen to it once you keep listening to it afterwards. It’s catchy, it’s cheesy (as is the video) and besides that Rick Astley actually has a good voice.

5) Maxïmo Park - The Coast Is Always Changing
Another song by Maxïmo Park. What can I say? It’s once again catchy music with nice lyrics. The music video:

6) Rise Against - Re-Education (Through Labor)
When I first saw the video on TV the song didn’t really stick in my mind. However, after watching the video once again on YouTube, it did and I started to like it. With their new album Rise Against seem to have become a little “softer” but they are still full of energy with messages to bring across. The video is also interesting:

7) MGMT - Time To Pretend
And here’s the next song by MGMT. It contains great lyrics and again it sounds quite psychedelic. It made me want to continue watching “Skins” … which I didn’t. Anyway, actually I wanted to embed the song’s crazy music video but unfortunately I cannot find any version on YouTube that you can embed … So, if you want to watch it you have to look it up on YouTube yourself. Instead, here’s a video with a live version and an interview:

8) Coldplay - Fix You
We once saw the video of “Fix You” in class. What I like about the song is the rising tempo beginning after the first half and the lyrics. It’s also the best song on “X&Y”.

9) This Is Ivy League - London Bridges
A nice, fun song. I didn’t know there was a music video for it. Sounds a little different than the version I have. I also didn’t know the two members are also members of Cobra Starship.

10) Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Art Star
At first, I didn’t like the song. The sudden change of the relaxing tune into screaming didn’t do it for me. When I listened to the song again, however, I really started to like it. Now I really love this contrast, it gives the song something special. But you really have to get used to it. At least I had to. Here’s a creative, unofficial video for “Art Star”:
