yah...i got my car back today!
it runs a lot better, obviously since it didn't run at all when i dropped it off, lol. while he had it, i also had him do a tune-up which it has needed for a long, long time, so even before it died, it's running a lot better.
the other bonus was that my total bill was $495.01, but he decided to knock-off $100. it's great to have a good mechanic in the family. so it was still expensive, but cheaper - somewhat.
on another note, i'm gettin more in the mood for Christmas. i've been collecting ideas and lists...
