Another holiday come and gone. You'd think people would get weary of them after a while; most of them have become little more than excuses to take days off and 'celebrate' something that is either of limited importance or barely worth the trouble. And yet, for all that they manage to persist throughout the ages

I spent the last few times this 'holiday' came around sleeping. Well, a mother is a universal figure, of universal importance. So much so that there are such things as goddesses-- mother figures to mortals.

I don't know what the historical basis is for Mother's day, but at least the thing being celebrated is one with an importance to most beings.

'Most' being the keyword here.

Be that as it may, I'd much rather not have the reminder looming overhead.

Unfortunately, I believe that's something you'll have to live with unless you make it a point to stay away from the outside world whenever it's that time of the year when people are celebrating something that can be honored daily.

I agree that somehow, it's a ridiculous holiday. But I guess for people, they always do need a day to remind them of things that they should be doing daily.

Either that, or capitalists conceive schemes to boost sales through these 'holidays'. You can always blame the capitalists for pushing the reminder in your face.

I've grown used to the general principle. It's tolerable enough, if a bit inconvenient.
