Donna laughs. "You? Rude? Never!" Yep, still teasing. But to be honest, she wouldn't have him any other way than the way he is. It's what makes him the Doctor and what makes him her best mate.

"Okay, okay. No babies, no dogs and no mortgages! Just you, the TARDIS and all of time and space."

"Welllll, yeah...but if I were with someone, that wouldn't be half bad either," he says, thinking it through without really realizing what came out. He does that sometimes.

She gives him a soft smile. Must get lonely travelling the universe alone, after all. "Well then, that settles it. Before you get rid of me, I am going to help you find someone. That special someone who makes your hearts skip a beat when you see them. Yup. My goal, before I leave."

"Donna Noble the match maker? What about you? Don't you want anyone in your life?"

"Me? Given up on blokes. Besides, what I am going to do? Drag 'em on the TARDIS with me?"

"You have? I can see why you would think about it...I mean, I was with you when a lot of the bad luck went on," he pats her on the shoulder, truly sympathetic.

"Besides, I have enough work trying to keep you out of trouble, mister. What do I need a bloke for?" Well, aside from the very human side of things involving beds - or chairs, or walls, or anywhere really.

"Well, um...hrm. I know I would like it if you were around, but do you think you could be around me all day, everyday?" He truly wants to see what she thinks of him.

[noblexcompanion]

"Give over you prawn. What're you on about? You see me every single day... well, you know, whatever 'day' counts as on the TARDIS, we're always together, well... apart from when I'm sleeping. Human. Need lots of it."

He/I don't exactly know how to put it. He's trying to see if she likes him.

"Right, right. Yes, but beyond that, if you wanted to let's say...be more than my mate. Would you? I'm just curious," he fishes around for information.

She arches an eyebrow. "But we're not more than mates. You said yourself, all you wanted was a mate. That's what we are, me and you, best mates." And she's totally avoiding the question.

"Well, yes. I was just wondering if you cared for me more than that. One of my companions did and I was so daft, I couldn't see it," he says with a frown.

"Martha? Yeah, things got 'complicated', I know, I know." She sighs, trying to avoid his gaze. "We're mates. Best mates. Does anything else matter?" In other words, she doesn't want to admit she fancies him for fear of being taken home.

"Well, yeah...I was just curious, is all," he shrugs.

"Well, what about you?" Oh yes, Doctor. She's turning the tables on you. "Would you? Be more than mates, with me?"
