Fantasy World

I had a hankering to make a fantasy world. So far, here's some rough details.

Magic is another form of energy, like thermal, light, kinetic, chemical. It's more present in some locales than others.

usually predictable, but can have occasional wildness.
using magic is an endothermic process
spellbooks would be inherently magical
read the words off the page, the page basically controlled incinerates, and you get the spell.

wands, do the right stuff and the wand will grow warm and then go off
if you light a spellbook on fire, all the spells in it will go off all at once.
enchantment, evocation, abjuration...
lit spellbooks are sometimes used as weapons of desperation
random targeting of the spells.

some people make their livings as magic scribes, writing books for others to use.
there would be some sort of chemical that stored magical energy very easily
this is what the core of magical items would be.

thus, breaking a wand or staff would free the magic
depending, you could either catch it or let it fly
healing would be the simplest magic to do
jeevesths: would also be the one with the most consequences.
jeevesths: all it does is accelerate the natural healing process, with all the requisite pain, but without the scarring.
jeevesths: pain can be taken on by caster or target
jeevesths: side effect is it makes the natural healing process a bit dependent on it if overused

*more later*
