So, while walking through the skyway today, I slipped. I assume there was a bit of water on the floor (it was a slushy day); my right heel went squiggling out from under me, and I landed on my knees like a fainting woman in an anime.
The good news is that a) I didn't spill my drink, though I reflexively squeezed it hard enough to pop the lid off; b) my pants were unharmed; c) my shoe didn't break; and d) I was able to get right back up and walk it off with my dignity about as intact as one could hope (it helped that I was, coincidentally, listening to
this song at the time, and so had the Lumineers encouraging me to "keep my head up" and reminding me that "it's better to feel pain than nothing at all").
The bad news is that I now have a hell of a bruise on my left knee. The right seems pretty unscathed, all things considered. There are some wee older bruises that are either a result of goat wrangling or using my knee to open doors, but I'm not seeing anything I can attribute to today's fall. The one on the left is right for me pretty impressive, and below the cut.
And then I went to B&N and bought myself "The Secret World of Arrietty," because I saw it this weekend and liked it.
