[Phone]

Alright, this is the last time - no, dammit, of course not. Frankly, I'd be happy getting anybody now.

Oi, if there's anyone listening, would you mind telling me where this is?  It's all rather weird - not that I haven't seen weirder, but usually I was expecting something weird to happen then, if you know what I mean. I mean, if you go to ( Read more... )

[Crowe sees a man inspecting his new little garden he just planted. What is going on?]

Um... can I help you,sir?

Have you noticed any sort of unusual radiation or energy fields anywhere? It'd be a lot easier to pick out if I had some kind of analyzer, or at least lab access, but sometimes you can tell from looking...

A-Ah, afraid I wouldn't know. Not really my area. Before she was droned, there was a woman here by the name of Lark who had a geiger counter, but that's about it. I-It's long gone now.

But, um, whatever you're looking for isn't going to be in my flowerbed, I think.

It didn't tend to go off a lot, did it?

No, you're probably right. Lessee, next question... are there any strange machines in the area? Or any large structures that are always off-limits and could possibly contain them?

Not that I recall.

Ah, that would definitely be the Dairy, the Post Office, the police station and city hall.

The last two seem like obvious choices, especially as they were rather keen on not letting me in, and I suppose the Post Office follows as it's run by the local government, but why the Dairy?

The Milkman is… W-Well there's a lot about him and the dairy actually. I think he's a tool of Lucy Smith, if you know who she is. The milk he delivers is poisoned. You can't get into the Dairy, a-and he disappears after he's done his deliveries. Into thin air.

And the plot thickens. Anyone figured out what he puts in the milk?

O-Oh, what the poison is? I'm not sure. I don't know if anyone has checked.

Well, that's a pity. They should; personally, if someone's going to go around poisoning me, I'd like to know how they're doing it, especially if there's possibly a handy antidote nearby. Although, if he's part of the town's whole conspiracy, they probably wouldn't provide an antidote, it'd be like the villain making sure the hero can just reach the off button for the doomsday device. Mind you, plenty of villains have done that, but I like to think that if someone managed to kidnap me, they'd be a bit cleverer than that.

I-I don't know if we have the equipment to. Maybe in the school's science lab? Or you could ask around. You never know what people might have from home that could help. What I wonder is why it still happens. Everyone in town knows the milk is poisoned. No one ever drinks it. I've been here for over a year now, and he still delivers it despite that.

That's a pretty common theme, actually. Do things ever change around here?

Occasionally. But in the end, things always go back to "normal". For the most part. A-As normal as Mayfield gets.

Weird how, exactly? In an eccentric, uncomfortable-but-eventually-we'll-all-laugh-about-this way, or a dangerous, likely-to-get-people-killed way?

In a "dangerous, people-most-certainly-do-get-killed" sort of way. Ah. Y-You must be very new then, if you missed what had just happened here...

Very new, yes. What did just happen?
