Excepting meeting Isane the morning of the 1st, I believe this has been a most inauspicious opening to the New Year.
As expected, Ichimaru Gin's performance of detaining the Quincy boy was a distraction. However, I believe that no one could have expected the ...monsters that have somehow invaded Soul Society. After four days of solid battles, I believe we are just now starting to force them back.
How they got through the Sekkiseki must remain a mystery until the things are driven completely away.
The Division has been doing admirably at keeping the monsters away from our grounds, however several residences and gardens in the North were completely destroyed and we were pushed back quite far. I fear for what the corrosive blood will do to the soil and water.
It is also worrisome to consider how Seireitei's strength will be cut because of this offence. I hope for all the officers to make a swift recovery.
Aizen's comment * towards us at that time clearly shows that the man is doing this for his amusement - yet another distraction.
The more disturbances Aizen gives us, the more I am convinced that it is all designed to keep us safely at arm's distance while his fatal disease runs its course.
