❀ 017 - An unfortunate awakening / Division announcement
[Because Byakuya had his officers out looking for suspicious activity, he gets woken just after 2am on Jan 6 by a hell butterfly from his 6th Seat, Kimura Ren, reporting the slight earthquake.
Uncertain if it's of any consequence, he still decided to arise and see for himself why Kimura thought to report the incident.
By the time he gets to the West quarter of Seireitei, interviews Kimura and returns back to the 6th Division, reports from the two companies assigned to Rukongai come in by Kounisshimou (filtered to Byakuya, of course), telling of impossible monsters in the outskirts of Rukongai.
Byakuya is confident in the ability of the Sekkiseki to protect Seireitei from spiritual intrusion, but the officers are reporting that these creatures are unlike anything seen or sensed before.
If that is so, then investigation is clearly needed.]

Until further notice, all companies are to remain on patrol in Seireitei only. 9th and 10th companies will return immediately.

I have a special investigation for you to carry out.
Find one of the monsters, cut off a piece of it, then return to Seireitei and try to pass it though the Sekkiseki. This will serve as a crude but effective method of finding if these things have the potential of passing though to Seireitei. Report to me personally with your findings.
Request information on the whereabouts of the monsters from the 9th or 10th companies.
