Walter emerged from the shower to find no Vlad in bed, no Vlad in the kitchen, and no Vlad in the living room.

Following the process of elimination, Walter padded out into the garden and stopped to take in the feast laid out there. And the food.

Smiling, he came closer, noting there were no omelets in the spread.

"Good morning."

That would be because omelets are fiendish implements of culinary torture, invented by the French...

So what else could one expect, really?

"Morning. Sleep well?"

Vlad's smirk suggested he already knew the answer to that last question.

Walter smoothed his still-damp hair and matched Vlad's smirk with one of his own. It's possible that an outside observer might see just where Walter had learned that smirk, looking between the two men.

"Sleep is for the weak."

Walter had, on occasion, considered wearing his hair short again. The pleasure Vlad took in seeing it in just that still-damp state was one of the many reasons for the vampire's objecting to such a cut.
