Welcome to another edition of Douchey Moments in History!
"I love you"
I know, I know... when it comes to douchey phrases, "I love you" wouldn't be one of the first to come to mind. And the fact is, Noah doesn't actually do any thing douchey in this clip. In fact, he's not even in the scene I've linked to, and the text message that gets Luke all

Yeah, you're totally right about that. There were times Holden could be a really good father to Luke, but there were also times when he was terrible (like when he supported Luke's "relationship" with Jade just because he was so happy that Luke was with a girl). But he really did have that same "hypocrite" thing as Noah did going on. Like when he and Lily were separated, and Holden had already seen an attorney about getting a divorce, he still acted like Lily had done something all kinds of wrong and horrible by starting a relationship with Dusty... but when Holden and Lily were trying to work through their issues and reconcile, and Holden had an affair with Carly, it seemed to be all, "it was a mistake! why can't you just understand that!"

"A nice guy Noah is/was, and how he wished he could have had a chance to play him LESS nice"?! IMO, then the writers could have written Noah hitting Luke, whenever he didn't do, say or think the way that "the boy he fell in love would" should have done, according to Noah.
Jake has to keep his fan financial backers happy and they would be cross if he ever said anything remotely negative about Noah. He's going to have to rely on those folks, if he wants to do another indie film, from one of his own penned scripts.

I don't understand. You're saying that there needs to be continuity in a character's POV and motivation, and I think that Peggin has demonstrated admirably that Noah had incredible consistency in his POV and motivation: Luke is wrong, Luke is wrong, Luke is wrong. I think that the only inconsistency with regards to what the writers gave us is between what they GAVE us and what they TOLD us about the character. They consistently gave us a douche, and he was always a douche. Interviews and articles about the characters, though, as well as the opinion of the other characters about Noah, all seemed to indicate that he was supposed to be a great guy. So, in a way, I don't blame the writers for this. I might blame ( ... )
