The hospital tour is coming up on Thursdays rewatch.   Luke and Reid are very couply in their irritation with each other, and Luke has that  "What the hell is up with you today?" attitude towards his apparent boyfriend.  Then when Luke finds out about the ultimatum, he's all, "How could you do this to me?  I took a chance on you...blah, blah, blah ( Read more... )

luke wants in reid's pants, reid please cuddle luke, reid's bringing sexy back, luke gets his drama on, kissing!, discussion post, luke and reid need to touch

I think the idea of creating gap fillers for these two episodes is a great one. It didn't make a lot of sense for them to go from the hospital break room scene to the next episode where Luke acts like they're in a committed relationship. In fact, when I first saw the episode, I was really annoyed as all get out at Luke [and this is from someone who adores Luke pretty much regardless].

But after some time away from watching the scene, I think I can sort of undertand Luke's viewpoint [as skewed as it is]. I think he's looking at Reid's dishonesty [in not telling Luke that there was an ultimatum on the table] through Nuke-colored glasses. Noah just told Luke how things were going to be and Luke accepted it ["hey, Luke, I'm going to marry a woman." "hey, Luke, I had to turn you in to the Dean because I'm so honest"]. But by now Luke has realized that he's worth more than that [ironically due to Reid's basically telling him so]. I think he had started to actually think about what a relationship with Reid could be like and to have Reid want to keep Luke his dirty, little, secret brought back a lot of bad memories and insecurities and Luke is lashing out.

Or I could be nuts and there really is no way to interpret Luke's reaction as anything other than being Lily-riffic.

I can kind of see why Luke freaked out, given his past experience with Noah, but I also think he really wasn't listening to Reid. Reid even said something like, "You know that's not how it is" or something like that, almost pleading with Luke like, "C'mon, dude...this is me..." But in a way, it's better that Luke got mad, rather than feeling hurt like he would with Noah, but the best would have been if they had talked it out and come to a compromise, but then it wouldn't be a soap. :)

I think part of wondering why Luke would freak out so much is that the fans had to swallow that they started a relationship (and they never told US! How rude...lol.) I mean, one episode, Reid kicks Luke out of his apartment. The next episode, Luke kicks Reid out of his house. And then I guess the start of their relationship is the millisecond kiss that ended in a doc-block. Eight minutes later (give or take a few mintues), Luke is mad and won't even consider that maybe laying low for two months is not a big deal if REid can keep his brilliant, hard-earned career and keep saving lives.

I think way too much about this stuff...lol...

I totally agree that Luke should have listened to Reid and that he was out of line. It's just I'm judging him a lot less harshly about it than I originally did. If Luke had just not flown off the handle and had agreed to listen to what Reid was saying then it would have saved them weeks of angst. And conversely, if Reid had told Luke about the ultimatum earlier when Luke was asking him what was wrong, I think Luke would have listened to him. I think the fact that Reid didn't even bother to tell him about it made Luke feel stupid and ridiculous.

I agree.

MEN! :D

"Weeks of angst." Wasn't this during the time when they weren't even on some weeks? Gah...we were all beside ourselves, weren't we? hahaha...
