Part Forty-Seven: "You're in love with Kevin!"
Jade suggests to Holden that she'll spy on Luke for him, but let's not call it spying, shall we? Let's call it "looking out for Luke" because he's such a "great guy" and "people will take advantage." Holden leaves, Luke comes into the stable and tells Jade that Holden has ruined EVERYTHING. Oh, the teenaged angst! He says, "It's over."
Luke reveals that Kevin's father drinks and used to hit him, and that when people get mad at him, Kevin can't deal with it because it scares him so much. "I was the only one Kevin could talk to about his dad and other stuff...." Oh, Luke! You and your love for the emotionally wounded jerks of the world! Luckily, one day you meet an emotionally wounded/stunted doctor-jerk with a heart of gold and you live happily ever after!
Luke: You don't understand.
Jade: Yeah, I do! You love Kevin.

Luke basically admits that Jade's right, he's in love with Kevin. Jade says that she's seen how Luke looks at Kevin and that she thinks that Holden has too, which is why he went off on Kevin.
Luke: And now Kevin thinks it's his fault. But it's not. It's all me.
Aw, Luke!!! You are always blaming yourself, bb!
Luke then goes into this really adorable and kind of intense story about the moment he fell in love with Kevin. And, God, my heart just clenches and aches for him. Also, it was kinda hot! I have to admit. I was able to picture it so well in my head, and, mm, that was kinda hot Luke!!! And Jade seemed to think so, too.
They have a really sweet discussion about Luke's feelings - OMG BB!!! YOU ARE SO IN LOVE!! - and then Jade hugs him, Holden walks in, Luke skedaddles, and Holden and Jade gossip a bit more about Luke's private business.
