Even near death he is apologizing. Poor bb.

Keith really knows how to charm a woman doesn't he. "I'll get you a kidney for your son if you marry me." Sounds like a fair trade to me.

IIRC Luke stowed away drunk on Lucinda's jet and was then kidnapped in Mexico. Holden and Lily reunited in his rescue. He got an e coli infection while kidnapped. It wasn't the alcohol itself that killed his kidneys.

Right, like I said, it was the bacteria that destroyed his kidneys, not the drinking. Poor Luke can never catch a break!

Keith's a real gem, huh?

I sorta kinda remember Luke's kidney failed because he picked up an infection when he stowawayed on the the jet. I didn't remember the kidnapping [most not have seen those eps]. But it just figures that he ended up kidnapped! If it wasn't for horrible, no-good, statistically improbable luck, Luke would have no luck at all. I'm assuming that his kidnapping was one of those "hey, there's a rich delusional kid wandering around. let's take him" varieties?

I was hoping you remembered the story. I went to SOC recaps to get this:

Apparently Luke was kidnapped to be an organ donor. Keith was kidnapped as well when he searched for Luke. He was held separately and escaped. Luke escaped as well and got back to Holden and Lily's room where they had been "busy". After they got back Keith gave Luke some straight answers and Luke defended Keith for not being at fault for the kidnapping. He didn't get sick with the infection until he returned to Oakdale, and it was Keith that picked up on Luke being sick.

Oh, so Luke didn't damage his kidneys by drinking; it was the bacteria?

I hate seeing Luke sick like that. And Keith! Oh, man, what a guy. It'd be interesting, though, if something similar was explored in fanfic--like if Luke needed a new kidney now, Luke or Reid must do something drastic (marriage to someone else or something major like that that would affect their relationship) to get it. Would either do it?

Yep, it was the bacteria. I'm sure all the drinking didn't help his kidneys -- they likely weren't in tip-top shape, but he was still young. It typically takes years for drinking to really damage any organs. The bacteria was the culprit.

Hmmm. Luke has definitely been known to do extreme things in certain circumstances!

I think Luke would go to extremes for others (and for Reid-hell yes), but I don't see him going to that extreme to help himself...He had trouble putting his own needs ahead of others, imo.

Oh yeah, wasn't Keith such a wonderful guy? Marry me Lily so I can give your dying son a kidney so he'll live.

Poor Luke. :(

OMG, I remember how traumatized I was by these scenes with Luke (when his head rolled like that, I thought he died). I was so angry at Holden and Lily for basically ignoring him for years while they got their crazies on. How he ever grew up to be so awesome is a true miracle! And Keith....don't get me going on that scumbag!
