So, The Brett is off to the Dodgers.
Strange situation, that one. On one hand, hey, bitter rivalry! On the other hand, just a quick drive down the 5. Nieks might get used to having the apartment on King to himself most of the time -- himself or whatever company manages to drop by. I hope we don't end up pitching against each other too often, though that could be interesting, in a way. Maybe I haven't been around to know quite HOW bitter the rivalry will be, but for my money, I always hated the Angels more.
Julia's happy because she really didn't want to leave SoCal. Plus she's excited about Brett's new paycheck. I think Brett's happy because he has a job. And I'm just chill. I have a list of things I have to get done to the car before the season starts -- 4 new tires, tune-up, and I'll probably get a new convertible roof put on (can you believe that a ragtop is $800??), plus the steering has been a bit loose since I loaned it to Jackie and Omar to take to the beach. Anyway. It's gonna be fine.
Also, he really did wash his hair in Cristal. Good times.
Oh, we have new teammates. Finley, Kline, Morris, Sweeney. I don't know them that well but overall the reaction teamwide is excitement about the additions, where they can take the team this year. Matheny is especially amped for Morris to be arriving here. He calls him "Matty Mo" ... I can get used to that. Matty Mo seems like a quiet sort of a guy so I can see why he gets along with Matheny. Glad to see them working together again. Finley was a Dodger, but well, what can you do about that? I won't be treating him any differently than if he'd come from Baltimore or something. I would hope Brett will get the same treatment in L.A.
There's one person who's not happy and his name is Omar. I'm trying to tell him the same thing, which is that Fonzie is going to be just a short drive down the coast. We can even carpool on weekends. But he doesn't listen. He says it doesn't matter. One thing I know is he's going to have to switch his cell phone plan because "free weekends and nights" isn't really going to do him that much good in this situation.
