Can you imagine- there was nothing noteworthy to do for me today. No big cleaning, no grocery shopping, no cooking, nothing at all. I remember that in the early afternoon I helped husband hang up the washing. And I replaced the batteries in some of the Christmas lights for New Year´s Eve- it´s a family tradition to see the old year off and welcome the new year with all Christmas lights on (even those outside which will deactivate at ten) and the candles of the Advent wreath(s) and the Christmas trees (battery operated) lit. I did not manage to repair the lighting of the second Christmas town, which is kind of sad, because I quite like the soft light eminating from the tiny glass houses I keep them in. So there´s only one this year:
I am halfway through the Rickman diaries. Rewatched Love Actually during the Holidays, still liked it. Miss this actor very much. A voice "that could suggest honey or a hidden stiletto blade", as Helen Mirren said, but only if you watch the movies in English- if you do it in German you will almost always get Bernd Rumpf, who has a nice voice, but not nice enough to replace Rickman´s timbre.
Since there was nothing of importance to do I did ingest too many calories by eating daughter's famous apple and pear crumble, with equally too many cups of splendid coffee- will have to buy more beans of that brand!
And just when I decided to call it a day neighbour next house (the one who loves to drink) sailed in, armed with eggnogg which she smashed five minutes after arrival.
She stayed, drank my second best wine all alone, had two espressos and did not want to leave. Hubby had a field day, did all the conversation, while I practically dozed off on my seat at the dining table. At seven thirty she finally left, and I was able to finish the LJ entry I wanted to üost in the afternoon. Well, it could have been worse...
