...and it's a really beautiful card! Thank you so much, dear
wiseheart, and even more for your Christmas greetings!
So this year´s Christmas was a mix between funny moments, family-induced stress and, most of all, cold symptoms. We even had to cancel today´s meeting with sister and her family- the youngestof my offspring, number four and only daughter have fallen ill now. I had to apply the emergency brake, before more would suffer from a head cold and irritating cough, especially when my niece has directing to do next week, just like her boyfriend- the first in Berlin, the latter in Vienna. My sister would not talk to me for weeks... Then again, I might have missed the opportunity of being sister-free for a while. I am not used to constant phone calls and weekly visits...
Daughter left today for her own flat, loaded with Boxagrippal, nose drops and cough syrup- and a tin of Christmas cookies, of course. Strange things have happened during Christmas break- all marzipan cookies are gone. And I thought I was the only one who likes these! Son and husband, who suffer more from the cold than ordinary women like daughter and me do, are on the brink of wasting away, which is really hard to watch. That´s why I took my car out of the garage and was off for a while, going to a shopping centre to have a look at people changing their Christmas presents to more convenient ones and buying a new scarf for myself. Daughter loves the new one I gave her for Christmas- it´s soft to the skin, warm and stylish. Unfortunately she also loves my own, old one, because it´s as wide as a wrap and has the right colours for wearing it at work. Since I was without a scarf at such icy temperatures I had to get myself a new one I can wear when doing more Holiday visits in the neighbourhood, of course only when most of my cold will have worn off. Last night we were down to minus eight and barely made it over zero during day! I know that it´s winter, but since we did not get any snow for Christmas I do not need this cold temperatures anymore- it´s a nuisance, no more, no less!
This evening is for going through Pinterest in search of ideas for decorating. Christmassy things will get boxed after Epiphany, so I need ideas for other ways to pep the house up. If only it wasn´t so cold in the studio- hubby already raised the flow temperature of the heating, but nowhere near enough! Now I wonder how I survived the really cold winters of my youth, when we had fern frost on the bedroom windows in our flat. I fear we´ve all grown soft!
