DPP: In Another Life

Feb 23, 2012 09:43

For today's topic, we're going to explore AUs and pilots.

Imagine Lee and Kara on Earth, in modern times, and the Twelve Colonies, the Cylons, or Galactica had never happened. What do they do on Earth? How do they meet? Is it the same familiar, angst-ridden to get their act together, or is it easier because, this time, Zak isn't in the way?

She cracks the slightest hint of a smile at him, before informing him dryly, “I don’t drink tea.”

He bites his lip, thinking. “Pastry?”

“Already had four.”

Huffing in exasperation his gaze goes up as he struggled for an acceptable peace offering.

“Drink?” He ventures timidly.

She grins outright. Standing dramatically, she extends her hand in friendship. “Now you’re talking my language. I’m always more poetic when I’m lit and my favorite dive is just down the street. I’m Kara Thrace.”

Shaking her hand in relief, he beams. It nearly does her in.

“Lee Adama.” He says happily. “Are we being poetic today?”

“It’s what I do.” She gestures at her computer. “You?”

He runs his hand through his hair, ruffling it like a child. “Kinda the opposite. I’m a lawyer. I write briefs and other tragically un-poetic things.”

“Wow,” she rolls her eyes as she gathers her junk. “That’s really riveting, Lee.”

“Hey,” he chides, as he helps her into her coat. “We can’t all be struggling bohemians, you know? Someone has to buy your drinks.”

“After the torture you put me through this week? Damn right, someone does.” She tells him pointedly letting him know just who that someone was.

“Well, if it’s for art,” He grins holding the door for her, “How can I say no?”

Snorting, she gives him a knowing look before linking their arms as they walk out into the drizzling rain together, “You were never going to say no, Lee.”

Pulling his coat over them to protect their heads from the mist, he agrees, his voice dropping an octave, “No, I wasn’t.”

Slowing to a stop in the parking lot, she turns into him, biting her lip nervously. “Do you have liquor at your office?

“Yeah.” He nods leaning into her space, his voice husky. “Why?”

“Well,” she drawls, reaching up to finger his collar. “Maybe you could ‘inspire’ me there.”

He swallows thickly, before getting himself under control.

“Kara,” he promises as he drops his lips to hers, “Gimmie one night, you’ll be banging out sonnets like Shakespeare.”

“Well,” She cackles against his mouth. “The course of true love never did run smooth.”

Love it! I'm going to echo what Tara said-- that "banging out sonnets like Shakespeare" line was great!

That's adorable. Only Kara would confront someone over the loss of her seat at a coffee place. hee.

Wonderful. I think Kara might be slightly Sheldon from Big Bang Theory with the whole OCD need for a certain seat. ;-) But really I'm sure he was distracting.

Haha I MAY have been projecting my own specific seating OCD'edness on her here. Thank for reading!
