If a man is considered guilty 4 what goes on in his mind
Then gimme the electric chair 4 all my future crimes

The song was popular, Addie couldn't even deny that. She could however deny the fact that there were three girls down the street that every day after school rehearsed their own "BatDance" to the song blasting over their radio. The eldest Kim had taped it off the radio and had been 'choreographing' the routine for a week now. Addie sat on the sidewalk just outside the front door drawing on the concrete with the well worn piece of blue chalk. She felt silly for the most part, because she was twelve, and at twelve she shouldn't be drawing on the sidewalks.
She should be at their house, in the garage gyrating her hips and trying to follow the moves that Kim was forcing down their throats. Some of it looked odd, arms flapping like birds as their bodies rocked from side to side, and Addie had to stifle a laugh when the middle girl ended up flapping her arm right into Kim's mouth. Addie could tell that the middle girl didn't really fit the group. She was like her in a way, trying so desperately to fit in with the popular girls, but Kim and Jenny weren't that easy to get along with it seemed. It was the reason Addie was on the sidewalk and not walking over there.
Addie had watched them a few months ago in the garage trying to do the same thing for Madonna's Like a Prayer, and now it was another piece of entertainment.
"Ad, come on inside. It's getting late."
Her hand reached out and wrapped around her father's leg as she leaned against him. She was too old for sidewalk chalk, and not friends with the girls that did dance routines in their garage, but she knew she'd never be too old for her dad. Looking up at him she smiled, "I know, I'll be in a bit from now. They're almost done anyway."
His hand threaded into her hair atop her head and ruffled it a bit, "Not too late, David isn't feeling too good. He's already in bed. If he's not better tomorrow-"
Addie nodded against his leg, "I know, it's okay I'll stay with him. Anton can pick up our homework, if he's not too busy with... whatever her name is."
"You're growing up too quick little girl, you should be over there.. flapping your arms and lip syncing with the three of them." Addie used her father's hand to pull herself back up to her feet, noticing the smear of blue chalkdust on his pants leg after she wiped her own hands down the front of her jeans.
"It's alright, I'm not a big fan of Prince anyway."
