no 'poo for you!

Reposting here instead of in the wrong community. Doh.

I'm going to try OCM, and I've read up on the whole hair .. 'no poo thing. After careful consideration, I don't think I can do it. It seems like a lot of work, and since my apartment is so shabby with pipelines that the better water is the kitchen sink water (and therefore where I wash my hair) it doesn't seem efficient for me. Not to mention, my hair is incredibly oily and when I don't wash my hair for three days I break out over my entire forehead. The idea of trying to style my thin, fine hair (in tons of layers) when it's unwashed is just... gah.

What would you suggest though, because I do want better, stronger, healthier hair. I generally wash my hair 3 or 4 times a week (full blowdrying maybe once every two weeks, quick, partial blowdrying maybe 3 times a week) and always use conditioner and some leave-in conditioner occasionally. Oh, and Tressame heat protectant spray. The shampoo and conditioner I use is John Frieda for Brunettes. Any natural hair masks? Products that really seem to help?
