Velocity idling

Bright lights flash and splash
Across eyelids and spill into pockets
Air escapes, and flows, and tiptoes
Into your mouth, out of your nose
And into my ears, fills them with heartache
Wild abandon tames and trains the wind
To behave and obey
I start to protest but then run away
Nothing’s the same but nothing has changed
Will you help me to help you?
Hold me and pick up the pieces of paintings
Oil dripping and fading
Canvas crumbling and breaking
Will you stop swimming in circles?
Sink into the sand and surrender?
On the other side you will find
A new sunrise, a pair of open eyes
If you just try…
A mask to hold your face together
Feathers your features
With the sound from the speakers
A brick to smash through your fear
Shatter your doubt, fish the rest of you out
Please don’t give up
On me or yourself
The future won’t come easy
Believe me, its streaming
Tears are like rainbows
Stretched across valleys, breathing, dying
Have hope in your happiness
Hands in your hair
Toes dug deep in the dirt
And the rest won’t get hurt
Destination desolation
But peppered with pansies
Flowers overflowing
Showers resting, dreaming
And writing your pain into their histories.
