Livejournal usage continues to slowly decline. insomnia's post here from last december continues to attract new comments and the statistics continue to be updated. In addition, pyrop has posted a graphical representation of these stats on their own journal. Here's a key graphic:

For most of the history of LiveJournal, you could take a look at archive.org and track the site's growth by looking at their archives of http://www.livejournal.com/stats.bml . This changed in early 2005, after LJ became a part of 6A, but there are a few LJers who are interested in this data, as it indicates that LJ has been effectively shrinking in ( Read more... )

Why talk about Vox? In Mena Trott's introduction post to Project Comet (the code name for Vox during early development), she states that Project Comet was "something we’ve been working on for over a year". One of the assertions I see a lot in dissatisfied news and other official community posts (and sometimes might even have made) is when things get dissatisfactory, people will move to GreatestJournal. Since both LJ and GJ give us the statistics on new users per day, I thought I'd test that hypothesis out.
