Gaaaah. Monday.

Spent the last four days sick as a very sick dog; I'm still not back at 100%, not even 60%, but I have to go to work or I'll NEVER be able to finish this project in time. Bah humbug.

The illness made me miss a play I've been greatly looking forward to, a fangirls' gathering for the purpose of watching a few good movies with some quality boy kissage, and - well, whatever y'all have been talking about. Hopefully I'll be able to catch up at some point, when sitting in front of the monitor doesn't feel so uncomfortable. (Double bah humbug.)

So, quick summary of the good stuff:

1. BSG, "Sometimes a Great Notion" - oh, what a comeback! And what an excellent title to an excellent episode. Welcome back, you marvelous show, you. Once I regain my health and the full use of my cognitive functions, I'll tackle a point or two in the TRUCKLOAD you gave us. In the meantime, one observation: it makes sense that SciFi aired the preceding few episodes in preparation for this one, but... I really wish I hadn't watched Cally's breakdown in "The Ties That Bind" so close to Dualla's (perfectly framed and devastatingly effective) suicide arc in this ep; that combo left a bitter taste in my mouth. But hell, as long as BSG continues to live up to its reputation of harsh psychological realism befitting a post-apocalyptic narrative, I don't think I'm going to complain.

OK, I lied. One more thing: I've been extremely happy with the way the occurrences of non-Western, ah, sources of knowledge have been distributed across gender lines on this show - what with Baltar having Six in his head, Roslin, Starbuck, and Tyrol having religious visions, both humans and Cylons having mystical experiences AND following up on them (not to mention that big ole Cylon hybrid)... and now Anders, Tyrol, and Tigh were all SHOWN as experiencing memories from a few millenia ago. After Starbuck's latest prolonged arc of crazycakes and the hybrid!talk that preceded this ep, it was kinda nice to watch the Chief touching rocks and shopping for produce 2000 years ago on Earth - not to mention Tigh wading into the water in search of the mysteries beneath the surface of his own mind. Oh, what a GREAT STORY.

2. Leverage, "The Wedding Job" - my three favorite line deliveries: Parker's ultra-deadpan "Do you have any snacks?", Eliot's "These peaches aren't gonna poach themselves" and Nate's "You killed him with appetizer?" Also, pretty much all the visual stuff with Eliot in the kitchen. AHAHAHAHA SHOW.

3. Psych, "Lassie Did a Bad Bad Thing" - is it just me, or is the writing this season even more, how do you say, on fire that usual? Especially since even the bad guy slashes Shawn and Lassiter - albeit for nefarious purposes, whereas the fandom does it lovingly and with their best interests at heart. (Ahem.) Also, Lassie is seriously growing on me.

4. I slept through the new Friday Night Lights and my DVR decided not to record it. Sigh. I'm sure the ep is available somewhere online, but I don't have the energy to check.

5. I've been watching some old faves lately, such as Twin Peaks and the Jeremy Brett Sherlock Holmes series. Oh, such excellent shows! Very few contemporary productions can boast that kind of timeless quality. If you're looking for something to put on your Netflix queue, consider this an insta!rec.

Finally, I got another good tune to share (mediafire, change zz to tt in link): "Acid Tongue" by Jenny Lewis. Sex, drugs, and... uh, folk - and it works MARVELOUSLY. Her voice, people. *has chills*

Enjoy.
