So I'm in a total shipping mood and in honour of that I'm gonna make a list of my all time favourite TV ships. Hurry for boring weekends.
1. Veronica and Logan - Veronica Mars - This one is so obvious I shouldn't even have to list it. I love me some Logan and Veronica action. They have the love/hate, which gets me every time, they have the witty back and forths down to a science, and let us not forget the smoldering chemistry. Yes the LoVe (or Lorganica, as I like to call it) ship would sail forever if I had my way. Come on Rob Thomas, don't turn all Abrams on me or I might have to pull out my ninja moves on you.
2. Claire and Charlie - LOST - Could there be anything cuter than these too? Yes: Charlie, Claire and Turniphead. Awww, sometimes a good, old fashioned sweet romance is all you need to make you feel all warm and gooey inside.
3. Sydney and Vaughn - ALIAS - Two years ago this ship would have been number one on my list. Then Lauren came along and ruined things. But I got over that. Then Shakespeare on Film (and Randall) came along and ruined things yet again... stupid course interfering with my TV watching. But I still love Syd and Vaughn and curse Abrams for putting me through the pain of their forbidden love relationship. I mean really, a girl can only take so much... ABRAMS! But deep down I feel that they will end up together.
4. JD and Eliot - Scrubs - Okay so I don't so much want to see them together on the show, because admittedly I would get bored with that really quickly. What I really like is the idea that these two will end up together somewhere down the road. Like in the series Finale. Just so I can have that peace of mind.
5. Kaylee and Simon - Firefly - They're total opposites, but to quote the million teen magazines I read in elementary school "Opposites Attract". I love Kaylee's crush. It's too cute. And I love Simon's awkwardness and ability to always say the wrong thing, because, frankly, it reminds me of me, self proclaimed World's Worst Phone Conversationalist and Most Awkward First Conversationalist... oh the stories I could tell. Maybe the reason I so love this ship is that I can see myself in both characters (which is kind of warped when you think about it. Am I saying I'm attracted to myself? Maybe I should go on me-Harmony.com. Anyone? SNL? Anyone? No? Your loss).
6. Rory and Tristan - Gilmore Girls - I guess I never really let go of this ship even after it became clear that Tristan would not be back as a boyfriend or otherwise. Tristan let me just say I miss you, but that having been said your departure made me like Dean more... for a while anyway.
7. Luke and Lorelai - Gilmore Girls - Thank you to TPTB for FINALLY making these two a couple. It needed to be done.
8. Felicity and Ben - Felicity - Okay so yeah, Ben was a jerk and Felicity was a stalker, but from the moment he signed her yearbook I knew I wanted them together. I choose to blame his behaviour in later seasons on Abrams never ending attempts to make me miserable (not to mention his obvious hatred of all things Canadian... more on that in a future post). Furthermore, Ben/Felicity beat the alternative a.k.a. stupid, boring Noel (a.k.a. KNOLL). I adore Scott Foley, but Noel annoyed me to such a degree that I don't even know how to put it into words (although his allergy to beets never failed to amuse).
These next few are going back a few years so I don't feel quite as strongly about them as I once did, but rest assured at one time I was rabid for these couples.
9. Julia and Griffin - Party of Five - Stupid Party of Five. I loved Julia and Griffin and I hated their divorce. I was a late comer to the show so I know the popular opinion was that Julia and Justin should be together, but I just never saw the appeal. Griffin was a sweetie and he was foxy.
10. Carter and Lucy - ER - I don't know what it is about unlikely couples, but I love them. Carter and Lucy would maybe have been good together. Unfortunately we never got to see it happen, but oh if we had, what an adventure it would have been. I'll never forget the thong or the make-out session that resulted. Alas, if only something had come of it. And then Lucy got all stabbed. That was pretty much what did it for me with ER. Stopped watching after that season.
And there's the list. I'm sure there are others and I'll probably kick myself later for leaving them out (I didn't even touch Buffy because of my conflicting emotions about pretty much every ship on that show ever). Maybe my next post won't be a list... or maybe it will. You never can tell.
