Last weekend we saw Tokyo Drift. In the movie they put the engine from a Nissan Skyline GT-R into a '67 Mustang. The Skyline is a famous JDM model, not availble in the US. (It will be sold here soon, as an Infiniti, and I'm almost sure I saw one a couple weeks back.) Thursday on the way back from the Mazda dealer we passed Skyline Used Cars (or similar name), no relation to the Nissan. And tonight at dinner I went to the bathroom and found a Skyline brand product in use there.
Tonight at dinner someone mentioned the movie Real Genius. It's one of my old favorites, but I haven't thought about it or talked about it in a long time. So when I got home I was surprised to see a comment from
penguinet which also mentioned Real Genius.
I'm starting to wonder if myself-in-the-future is sending messages to me-in-the-now, and if so I wonder how it all turns out. [Note: This makes more (or indeed, any) sense if you've seen the last episode of the previous season of Dr. Who.]
Today was busy. We picked up
geekchick's
new car, a Mazda 3. It's not exactly a turbocharged beast but it's still pretty nice. I especially like the color, a medium-dark blue. Getting out of the car dealer took a long time, due to some people in line ahead of us who took WAY longer than they should have, so we had to hurry to get to Serenity for Charity, at the Cinema and Drafthouse. (I had to leave
geekchick at the dealer to go pick up our veggies from the CSA drop point.) We met
anotheranon, D and G for dinner beforehand. The Chinese place had turned into a Salvadoran/Mexican/etc place, we decided to eat there anyway and it turned out to be fine.
After dinner we went to the theater, next door. The place was packed, much fuller than I've ever seen it, and we ended up all the way in front. This would have been a problem in a house with a bigger screen, but it was ok, at least for me. The crowd was pretty vocal and appreciative, which was fun, and as G pointed out, our waitress was entirely too cute. Sadly we didn't manage to find
jessicamelusine, but other than that everything was great. Definitely a fun time!
