Ed update
So Ed goes in for surgery tomorrow, to have his infected eye removed. Hopefully there won't be any other problems, but that's not 100% certain, there might have been something weird going on with the intraocular pressure in the other eye.
It's sad it came to this, but with any luck his ordeal will soon be over. In general he's seemed fine apart from how his eye looks, but occasionally he will be grooming himself and poke his eye with his claws. This is obviously painful because he squeals loudly when it happens, to the point that we can hear him even upstairs in the office. Unfortunately the instinct to groom is apparently too strong, so he often tags himself again moments later. It's really painful to hear, and doubly painful to know he's more or less doomed to keep on doing it from time to time since his instincts are so strong.
The surgery carries some risk of course, and he'll have a recovery period afterwards, but with any luck he'll be better off afterwards than he is now.
