1. Flipping through XM the other day I saw Goo Goo Dolls on one station and Hot Hot Heat on another. I got to wondering how many bands have names of the form X X Y? Dum Dum Girls is the only other one that comes immediately to mind. I thought Duran Duran might be a degenerate case (Y = null), but geekchick informed me that it doesn't count ( Read more... )

Pine is a type of tree and also a verb. What if any other tree names are also verbs?

Spruce.

Palm. Not technically a tree, but...

Fig. As in "Fig you!" (or perhaps "Fig yew!"). A yewphimistic verb!

Gum.

Birch. (Definitely used as a verb in *my* circles.)

Golden Rain. (Ditto.)

Orange. (As in "I don't like that shade of yellow very much. Can you
orange it up a little?")

Mango. ("Man, go away.")

LOL!

If you're going to go with "gum" you might as well include "rubber". As in, "Oh boy did you rub her the wrong way!"
