So um okay.

I'm sick. Today (Tuesday) was my second day staying home from work due to this sickness. For portions of today the thermometer was showing a fever of over 100 degrees. Alex is also sick. We've managed to restrain ourselves from actual open-mouth kissing, but apparently that wasn't enough, and now she's sick too. She went to work on Monday... But stayed home today.

I'm not sure which (if either) of us will be going to work tomorrow.

In other news, my vial of estrogen is empty, my Sharps container is overfilled and I only have 2 syringes/2 pairs of needles left.

I called my doctor's about the estrogen yesterday and got forwarded to the NURSE'S VOICEMAIL. Alex called for me today and they told her they'd take down a message and call us back. They called at like 5:50pm and told us the vials were on backorder, but agreed to phone it in to a local "compound pharmacy" for me.

So hopefully they forwarded it under my boy name (aka "the name under which I have valid ID") and hopefully the place won't give me trouble over wanting to just pay for it myself without getting my insurance involved and hopefully they won't be too loud about it or draw too much attention to it when I'm down there picking it up and hopefully it won't cost a whole ton. But it's possible I'll actually be able to get it before the weekend and not miss an injection. The wonderfulness is, the pharmacy they phoned it into apparently closes at 6pm, so I wasn't able to call tonight to ask any questions... And if I end up back at work tomorrow all the questions would need to be asked during my breaks, over my cellphone. And this might include trying to get in contact with my doctor's office again to get them to re-submit it with the correct name.

The Sharps container apparently needs to be turned into the local hospital's emergency room. I called the pharmacy and asked them if they can dispose of it; they told me to take it to the hospital. I called the hospital and asked what part of the hospital to bring it to; they told me the ER. The pharmacy also told me that they don't have new, unused ones to sell me. Hopefully the ER will. Otherwise I have no idea what I'm going to be doing to get a new one.

The needles and syringes prescriptions... One of them is apparently valid for refill right now, so I filed for that... The other one, even though it still had 2 refills left on the label, the "refill by" date has apparently already expired. So the local CVS pharmacy has to call my doctor's to get permission to refill that one. Which I'm sure means it'll take a couple of days, too.

But that one isn't as much of a big deal because I still have 2 syringes and 2 sets of needles, so I won't need more for another 2 weeks.

Sometimes the degree to which absolutely no one is cooperating with me or trying to make things any easier on me is just ASTOUNDING... IMHO.
