I love mornings in the forest here (well, I love mornings in the forest everywhere). Beautiful sunlight on green leaves. Soft blue skies with Pyramid peak tall and snowy against it. Snow and clouds slowly waking up off the slopes of the mountain. And birdsong, tons and tons of happy birdsong that just makes my heart leap with joy ( Read more... )

Woke up a 5am this morning to go birding with some coworkers at Greenlake.
It was awesome. Not a ton of species but a good amount.

And Joy brought home-made scones that were delicious.

And for the first time in my life I got to hear a Pied-billed Grebe make a noise and omg they have an adorable birdcall. *swoon*

Today I slept a bit late, had breakfast and puttered for a bit. Then I walked over to UW to go to the Burke Museum. I wandered through their exhibit on Giant Squid and their photography exhibit "Yellowstone to Yukon". The squid exhibit was all right but not amazing. The photography exhibit was quite good.
