all memories are innacturate.

Long ago and far away, in The Land of Civil Unrest, a man died. He was not the first man ever to die, nor was he to be the last, but his death (and subsequent rebirth) was to be the foundation of a following.

Before this man, there were many faiths, but no one could have predicted the effect that he would have on the world. The new faith based around him was called Christianity, the man Jesus, and (forever because of his life) people lived and died for him, believing that he had lived and died for them.

They probably have the right idea.

However, his vision, his legacy was contorted over time by people corrupt and ill at heart. His message was lost to most in the process, and people began to fall away from his word. These days, people basically believe whatever they want. This is not necessarily wrong. (Who are we to know what is wrong and what isn't? We weren't there. Even if we were, memories become falsified as soon as they are committed, and the moment is over.)

People need something to believe in. Whether it is an ideology, themselves, another person, it doesn't matter, but we all inheriently need to believe in something.

That said, let me state that I believe there is no 'right' religion. I also believe that there is no wrong religion. Granted, I disagree with several (especially ones that involve slaughtering animals and gays) but everyone is entitled to their own beliefes.

I have been bombarded with religion today.

Not really in a bad way, though. Actually, I am deeply interested in what people believe and why they beleive that way.

We all have a hard time respecting other people's beliefs. Really, that is because we think that what we believe is right. Admit it. If you didn't think you were right, then why beleive in that? It's really quite a simple concept.

I understand that it is difficult to respect others' beliefs. I truely do. Trust me on this one. It is one of my biggest issues with myself, and I do try to curb it, but I also realize that it goes both ways.

We sometimes see something that offends us. Face it, it happens all the time. As I mentioned in play practice, take anything and there is someone out there that will be offended by it. It's just the way people work. Most of the time, they won't say anything at all about it, but sometimes they speak up, and they should. If you believe something, I mean truely beileve it, you shouldn't be made afraid to admit it.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that these are livejournals. They are here for a purpose, and that purpose is to share our opinions with the world. You may not always like what people are saying (that is what the comment boxes are for) but keep in mind that they might not like what you're saying, either? Eh, so it goes.

It is not any of our places to say what one can and can not post in these things. That is the beauty of it. If you don't like it, don't read it, don't look at, and (for pete's sake) lighten up, kids. It's really not that serious.
