*wheezes* I think I broke something laughing. And this big silly grin might be permanent.
I like the idea of Cameron/Daniel, but I'm always left feeling vaguely sad about Jack being left out, because Jack/Daniel will always be my OTP and also I'm kind of screwy like that. But this, this is perfectly wonderful. It's a Cameron/Daniel I can get behind because Jack is still such a presence. He's still Daniel's best friend. Still knows Daniel way better than anyone else. And they're still completely different with each other than they are with anyone else. LOVE.
This is the story I'm going to carry with me from now on when I drabble in C/D. This is how I'd want it to work.
Thank you! Even though I never slashed Jack/Daniel, the Jack and Daniel friendship kind of trumps everything for me. They're both way too much a part of each other's lives for anyone to get between them.
I'm the same way. So whenever I play with putting Daniel with someone else (Cameron, Teal'c, Vala), I still need that friendship there. I need it acknowledged that it's still the closest relationship either of them have. It's so rewarding to find authors who see it the same way, and show it in their fics. <3 <3 <3 <3
I saw below that you might not write for the fandom again for a while, but I'll keep my fingers crossed that another bunny bites and gets you to change your mind. Even better if it's another Cameron/Daniel bunny. ^_~
Well it's certainly a possibility. Hee. I'm just finishing up watching season nine now, and all the little Cameron and Daniel bits are amusing me greatly. ;-)
Ohhh, you haven't finished season nine yet? Ha! Betcha don't get through it without wanting to write just one more. ^_~
If I didn't enjoy season nine for any other reason, I'd enjoy it for how fun Cameron and Daniel are together. You said it perfectly in this story -- Daniel's always been the nice one, now it's Cameron's turn and Daniel gets to have fun. So we get a snarky Daniel giving Cameron a hard time. Not that Cameron really minds, since he seems to take it as a sign of affection.
You can just tell that Shanks and Ben have tons of fun working together, and it makes it a real treat to watch the two of them.
