as the world turns.. so does Nix

Gaming still progresses at an almost pleasant rate.. still very much fun.

Geek.Kon is looming ever closer, I have slipped in my volunteer status to the coordinating guy.. I technically only have to do 4 hrs, since I am on two panels.. but.. I'd be happy to help out a few extra hours more.  But I plan to be very busy.. there are quite a few panels I hope to attend, and.. being the geek that I am.. I made sure to make a google document so that I wouldn't accidentally book panels at the same time

it seemed to work..

I'm really looking forward to the History of Role-Playing, Geek Dating, Game Creation (as long as it's for table top), and all the other game writing panels.. along with the OSR panel.  My friend in Tennessee felix_archon  is a waffling taint gargling icky stink face is still contemplating going.. on the other hand he might waste his time enjoy a few days with his wife by going on a vacation with her.. I mean.. really.. what could compare with the awesomeness of me?

now.. I am sure.. most of you would think that going on a rare vacation with his wife would be the hands down winner, after all, with the vacation with the wife there would most likely be the sex stuff.  But, and this is a major thing, he mother-in-law invited herself.. more of her family were supposed to attend.. and each one that began to tag along was more of a waste of human flesh than the other.
Wait, should I edit that bit so it's not as offensive to them?
hrrmm... No, they really are pretty freaking useless..

I'm not sure if anime girl will be there.. but I am looking forward to seeing any and all of the Madison geeks that I have been getting to know.  They're all a cool bunch of people, and I'm still nervous over whether or not unbelievably-uber-hawt-librarian chick will be there..

I'm also discovering that I, occasionally, have difficulty expressing my ideas.  It's one reason I am going to be attending the various game design/writing panels.  I am discovering that there actually is quite a bit of knowledge rattling around up there along with many ideas..

I mean.. besides the asinine, ludicrous, and inane ones..

New rpg's added to my list of games..
Asylum: Eastern Seaboard
Shatterzone: Rule Book
Star Wars: 2nd revised
Ork!: The Role-Playing Game
Star Wars: Gamemasters Handbook
Traveller: Supplement 9 (fighting ships)
Traveller: Adventure 5 (trillion credit squadron)
Traveller: Ordeal at Eshaar
AD&D:  Monstrous Compendium (two binders.. unknown volumes.. perhaps all three?)
Arcana Unearthed: by Monte Cook

It's no secret that I was not the biggest fan of D&D 3.0 and 3.5, but, as I told Monte Cook all those many months ago.. it wasn't really the rules (not all of them anyway) but what was done with the rules.  It quickly became a game of min/max'ing a character..
What I didn't know is how 'old school' he was.. I thought that he would have been in full favor of complicated and over-bearing rules.  I've only just started Arcana Unearthed, but it is quite good.

He also gave a speech at Oddcon, which boiled down to 'why I game', I mentioned how amazing it was before.. and has me thinking about why I game..  It is still formulating though.. as I said, at times I find it difficult to express non-moronic thoughts

There might be a couple other RPG's that I forgot to add in to that 'new' list.. so feel free to check out the full list (if you haven't already)

hrrmm... What else is new in the land of me..

oh.. I finally started using my face book account.. I do feel like quite the crowd following douche for doing so, but it is looking rather interesting..
But, I think 99% of the people that read my blog already are on my friends list.. well.. except for commontheme , but.. what do you expect out of an ogre d00d :-p

I actually had to put in a few mentions of 'Nix' on my facebook profile page.. cause.. well.. I don't think that very many of the Madison people knew me as anything other than Nix

I think that is all for now..
