what brings us to this?
The Day the Earth Stood Still.. the remake
why?
by all that one can hold holy.. why?
why butcher this sci-fi masterpiece?
why gut it of every aspect that made it great?
the first time I saw the Preview-That-Shall-Not-Be-Named I felt my soul shrink.. slightly.. (its not a very big soul)
the second time I saw the Preview-That-Shall-Not-Be-Named I fell into a psychadelic delirium in which I believed that I had been mistaken in seeing such a hack job.. then when I came down from that sweet sweet dream of a high, I realized that it did indeed exist and felt like weeping
oh ya.. and my soul shrank just a little bit more
by the third time I saw the Preview-That-Shall-Not-Be-Named I had numbed what little remained of my soul to buffer it from the pain and degradation that the preview..umm.. previewed
thus from then on.. I have simply stared in disbelief (mostly because I failed my disbelieve roll.. even though I rolled a 19) at the flickering television screen..
what brought us to this point?
was it some sort of conspiriacy?
remaking The Day the Earth Stood Still would be like remaking Jaws..
only instead of it being off the east coast.. it would be in the Arizona desert..
and instead of a shark it would be made with a giant worm thing

but still.. what 'needed' to be remade?
some remakes I don't mind.. they simply update an older version
there wasn't anything about The Day the Earth Stood Still that was out of date..
ok.. so it was based in the umm.. 50's? 40's?
does that mean one of greatest movies of all time has to be tossed into a very well used latrine?
I would weep for the travesty.. but.. with the deadening of my soul there is too little feeling left to be that expressive
