Went to see Guardians of the Galaxy 2. Wasn't expecting it to be good or bad and that just what it was...
PLOT: The intergalactic criminals work together once again to try to stop a deity from destroying the universe and remaking it to conform to his view of 'life' while also unraveling the mystery of Peter Quill's MIA father.
I really don't know what to say here. The jokes were still mediocre and some were just pathetic and may only appeal to 10 year old boys - I'm sure you are familiar with those kinds of jokes. No one really laughs at those. The special effects were pretty good and I like the diversity of the different interstellar races. If you saw the first one and liked it then the second one will be equally likeable and give you more insight into Quill and some of the other characters.
Didn't like part of the ending and what they did to Yondo (no spoilers) but I'm sure there are people out there who probably could care less but I liked his character even in the first movie. Loved Sean Gunn (Kirk on Gilmore Girls) as Kraglin. I hope he's still around in any other sequels.
Baby Groot was adorable and I am warming up to Rocket more in this installment but I still laugh at anyone who thinks an adorable racoon can actually be badass no matter how that character is portrayed. A racoon is cute. PERIOD!!!
As for Pratt, Saldana, Gillan, Bautista - characters didn't change from the first movie.
New characters Ego (Kirt Russel) as Quill's (Pratt) divine father was interesting and I thought could have been fleshed out a bit more but it was enough to explain why Quill was able to handle the infinity stone. His 'pet' Mantis was sweet and I liked her character especially her rapport with Drax.
I am on the fence about Sylvester Stallone's character Stakar Ogord. Can't say I like or dislike him. It does look like he'll be in any other installments of the franchise. Meh.
I liked Elizabeth Debicki's villainess Ayesha - interesting race and would have liked to know more of their backstory.
Go see it or not. Up to you. Since I got into the movie for $5 I feel it wasn't a waste of money.
