School Days . . .

My best friend, Carrie,  from high school, came over today.  Her father passed away last week of a heart attack, he was 57.  Today is the anniversary of her brothers death.  He was run over by a drunk driver one year ago.  It has been a difficult year for her to say the least. However, she is making great strides.

I made Carrie a pamper herself  kit with spa/bath items an uplifting book and one lone candle.  I fixed  a gourmet lunch which we ate out on my balcony.  We basked in the sunshine,  sipped iced italian roast coffee and enjoyed  good conversation.  She is clever, witty, funny and intelligent.  She challenges my mind and keeps me on my toes.

I showed her launch.com and we looked up music artists from the 80's and early 90's.  We watched several music videos and reminisced about the good ol' days when we were young, fun and a little mischieveous.  Back when high hair ruled and beauty essentials were a hair pic, a can of aqua net and a tube of shimmery pink lip gloss (oh the horror!).

Most importantly, Carrie enjoyed herself.  She came in sad, and teary-eyed and left laughing and smiling.  I was grateful she was able to make time for me.  She is raising 4 children and working full-time so her free-time is limited and precious.

Seeing her always lifts my spirits.  Well I have been up 26 hours and am about ready to drop.
